SKEP was founded by Morgan Suckling, whose background is in IT, systems development and business strategy. He stays hands on through the build.

Morgan spent ten years inside a furniture manufacturing business of about fifty staff, working across multiple areas of it and managing all of its IT and systems for that whole time — including some of the company's hardest stretches: the operations, the numbers, and the daily work of getting around tools that were meant to help. That is a business the size of the ones SKEP builds for, and it is what shapes the specification. The spreadsheet being replaced has usually been lived in rather than looked at, so the exception that turns up every second Tuesday is accounted for, along with the customer who is always invoiced differently and the step everyone does in their head. Software that ignores those does not get used.

We currently take one or two clients at a time, from specification through to handover. It keeps us close enough to how the work actually runs to build something people will use.
